Prepare & Measure: Ensure your quilt top and backing are properly prepared (see Policies below). Measure your quilt top's width and length in inches.
-
Request a Quote: Email us at desertbloomstudios@gmail.com with your quilt top's dimensions, your desired batting choice, and your preferred quilting style (e.g., simple meander, floral edge-to-edge).
-
Approve & Pay: We will email you a detailed invoice. Full payment is required before quilting begins.
-
Ship Your Quilt: Once paid, ship your prepared quilt top and backing to the mailing address provided in your email quote.
-
Quilting & Return: We will quilt your project, trim the excess batting/backing (if requested), and ship the finished quilt back to you.
Pricing for Edge-to-Edge Quilting
Our pricing is based on the total square footage of your quilt top. We only offer Edge-to-Edge (E2E) designs, where a single pattern is repeated uniformly across the entire quilt.

-
Quilting Cost: Total Square Inches×Price Per Square Inch=Quilting Cost

60×80=4,800 sq in
4,800×$0.025=$120.00 (Quilting Cost)

Thread
-
Thread Fee: A flat fee of $8.00 is charged per quilt for high-quality polyester or cotton thread that best matches your quilt top. This fee covers all thread used on the top and bobbin.
Preparation and Service Policies
Please follow these guidelines strictly to avoid additional preparation fees or delays.
Quilt Top Preparation
-
Pressing: Quilt top must be pressed flat. All seams should be secured and lay flat.
-
Clipping: Trim all loose threads from both the front and back of your quilt top, especially dark threads on light fabrics.
-
Orientation: Mark the top edge of your quilt top with a safety pin if the orientation is not obvious.
-
Separation: Do NOT pin or baste the quilt top, batting, and backing together. Send them as three separate pieces.
-
Fussiness: We charge a $25.00/hour preparation fee if the top requires extensive pressing, trimming threads, or repair before quilting can begin. We will contact you before incurring this charge.
Backing Fabric Requirements
-
Size: The backing fabric must be at least 4 inches wider and 4 inches longer than the quilt top on all four sides.
-
Example: For a 60" x 80" top, the backing must be at least 68" x 88".
-
-
Seams: If piecing the backing, use a 1/2" seam allowance, press the seam open, and ensure the backing fabric is squared and free of waves along the edges.
-
Wrinkles: Backing fabric must be pressed and wrinkle-free.
Shipping
-
Shipping Costs: The customer is responsible for all shipping costs (sending the quilt to us and return shipping to you).
-
Insurance: We highly recommend insuring your package for the full replacement value of the fabric/quilt top when shipping it to us. Return shipping insurance will be applied to your final invoice.
-
Liability: We take utmost care of your project, but we are not responsible for damage or loss incurred during transit.
